packages

You can select one of the four desktop environments LXDE, GNOME, Plasma and Xfce at the login screen

Plasma is suitable for highly configurable machines. Based on the Qt framework, it has the capacity to provide rich desktop functionality.
Note: If you use Plasma you should run XScreenSaver instead of screen locking program of KDE itself. Not because XScreenSaver is very interesting, but for security reasons

If you only use computers for office work, GNOME is the best choice. GNOME is easy to use and especially stable with both Xorg server and Wayland

Xfce is representative of traditional work styles while still approachable modern interfaces. Xfce requires less computer resources. More importantly, its architecture is open to you to explore and customize. Xfce is an old environment, but you will most likely use it if you have to work with multiple tasks and need to switch between workspaces and rearrange them

Finally, LXDE is an extremely lightweight desktop environment. If your computer is very old, use it as a suitable option
